Why would you be waiting 2 weeks to plant your seed though?DIY.Rik wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 12:07 pmThis in turn ro me though means you'd get healthier, more rapid growth the sooner the relationship with the roots established. I dunnoI hadn't been awake long when I replied there hahaha
I don't see the microbes helping really. In the soil itself sure, but not for germinating. Just room temp dechlorinated tap water should do the trick. Too warm and they'll turn to mush, too cold and they'll think it's winter still.
St least I finally got something growing in there.

No I mean establishing a root to fungi relationship.KD wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 12:10 pmWhy would you be waiting 2 weeks to plant your seed though?DIY.Rik wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 12:07 pmThis in turn ro me though means you'd get healthier, more rapid growth the sooner the relationship with the roots established. That's why I always think how nature would do it. Or could do it. Bit I suspect that could differ on varying weather and climates anyway.KD wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 12:09 pmYou've got to remember though... In the jungle, there's no one putting seeds in a cup of water. That's why I always soak in plain water to kick-start the process, then stick em in the ground like mother nature intendedDIY.Rik wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 10:01 amThat's exactly what I'm trying to replicate in my mind though, what happens in the ground in the forest, or jungleKD wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 8:11 am
I think you might be right there but the relationship is best suited when it's in the ground as opposed to soaking in water. Remember... Microbes break down the organic matter to feed the plant. In a jar of water, the seed IS the organic matter.
I think seaweed is the hormones that it contains is what's helping but could be talking out my arse on that one lollol

I don't disagree with soaking seeds though

You're welcome mate.2-Scoops wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 11:46 amNice one for taking time out on that one .GHO wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 10:46 amThe larger your pot size is the more able to sustain itself the ecosystem you're setting up will be. I've a customer running 50s and now he's done a few runs he's amending one US cup per cycle. Approximately 75 pence in amendments per run of tomatoes. I do see people putting more plants in large pots too. The longer you run these pots the better they get.![]()

Re: Green Hand Organic Grow 75L
Nice one, I will be starting to put more up about GHO gear soon. It's top quality. I will be starting a write up about inoculating biochar soon and there is some new stuff coming out soon, from what a birdy told me.
I do also have some more detail to write about how I have mixed the soil this time around.
You're welcome anytime as is anyone :-)
I will come and check out your stuff soon too

Re: Green Hand Organic Grow 75L
Yeah that is a good one Dave
I have used coco coir in previous mixes to act like a substitue for peat.
I find biochar works great for this too:

Also GHO sells a great product you could use as a replacement for pearlite:

This also helps release silicone to the coco too. Which could benefit you :-)

Re: Green Hand Organic Grow 75L
Slowly but surely.
I keep trying to let the roots find their way by watering more around the edges. I have had the light as far up and level as low as it can go in here so far.
I will start very slowly ramping the light up here. VERY slowly
