So i've been twiddling the tent all day trying to get temps and airflow ok and am using a laser thermometer. One of them yellow pointy things with a red dot.

I'm struggling like buggery to get the ambient down, I like it at 25*C but it's higher. I have been reading the leaf temperatures though... and have kind of fallen down a rabbit hole looking up optimal temps.

Anyone know owt about it or grow according to it? Seems that LEDs spectrums need higher room temps then CMH to obtain optimal leaf temp.

Anyway, my leaves are at 24*C and my ambient room at 27*C. Which means they're working good at cooling the plant down.
Some guides on this here internet say 25*C - 30*C for optimal leaf surface temperatures. Which will make me happy as it looks like I'm gonna struggle to keep temps down in this grow space.

But yeah, if anyone knows owt about it?

Hey marcus, I've never thought of checking the leaf surface temp, that's a good idea

But honestly my temps are usually 26-27 from seed to harvest, 50-60% humidity lights on, 70% off. Haven't had any issues with cuttings or small plants, they don't seem to mind

If you really want to get picky look up a vpd chart (vapor pressure deficit) this is the optimal humidity at a given temp I believe, or vice versa

Hi Josh,

VPD yes, that popped up in my searching too.

I only had 1 problem in my old grow space and that was keeping it warm, this space is going to be the opposite and I'm going to have to keep em cool.

I may run the tent a little warmer this grow (30*C) then and keep an eye on leaf temps. (if I can be arsed)

Shouldn't matter too much until flower I would think, just supplement with co2 and make the most of it high temps no problem
