Got the totes, now how do i make a hole?
5 came today grttinge closer to starting up this dwc gen up cany wait, must say they are the perfect size, opaque so no light gets to water and roots and respectably thick plastic good to see someone at ikeas got whacky tobbaco planters over priced dwc bucket dilemma in mind lol. I'm no handy man, so id be delegating this job to a friend if I can but in case I can't, what drill do I need and how would I drill it not sure but I remember from techy is it a dowell drill? Any drill and instruction on how to use it would help, preferable what are my options if there is any

The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.

Hole saw sound pretty resourceful.. don't suppose u can go wrong with that one, job it does is in the name lol other than not having a steady hand like me, will probs ask him as well in case he can offer any way of doing this right, never used a hole saw in my entire puffness haha

Normal drill and a hole saw. When you buy your net pots they'll usually tell you what size saw you need.
I use 80mm pots and a 76mm hole saw.

Re: Got the totes, now how do i make a hole?
Cheers mate , what tote are u using is it a thing like mine as there is a flap at front to lift to check roots or water readings, ttl told me I needed an 8" but I thought that was over kill until now could it have to be so big so it reaches down to the water okay or would an 80mm pot reach my rez okay without adversity? Can post link of tote I used if pics not clear on how it sits

Re: Got the totes, now how do i make a hole?
They look good the bins you're using.
80mm would be too small for that type with a slope.
I use 80mm cos it covers all bases for me.
I use storage boxes and a bucket.
I start with 10L box then move up to 20l bucket and then a 50L storage box.
You'll need something a bit deeper if you're using those bins from the start.

Never occurred to me to transplant, i know it grows faster in small container didnt think to apply it to hydro might go that way next one, and ty I had a feeling, will measure how far down my waters going to sit and see if I can match a net pot

I'm not saying it's the right way to go. I do it cos I don't have much space.potentcheesydick wrote:Never occurred to me to transplant, i know it grows faster in small container didnt think to apply it to hydro might go that way next one, and ty I had a feeling, will measure how far down my waters going to sit and see if I can match a net pot
I've got a diary up Sweet Afghani Delicious. You'll see if it works or fails
Stick your airstones in and turn on to see how far the splash reach's and go from there.
Once your roots are dangling you're good to go.
