Bonsai mother plants
Ever had a strain you wanted to hold onto but didn't have enough room to keep it around?
I ran into this issue with my triple cheese, knowing I won't be growing it for a long time (wanna try new stuff)
I decided to throw it in a solo cup of straight coco and water every few days. When growth picks up to where you have to water more often, just cut the plant back to almost nothing. She'll grow back
This is 8 months old believe it or not

Re: Bonsai mother plants
I do this as my mother tent is so small. My only worry is the roots getting bound.
What does anyone reccomend? Root cutting? Cannazym?
But yeah, its a great way of keeping a few genetics around without using loads of room

Re: Bonsai mother plants
Yes I've kept some mother plants over the years too. In small pot in coco takes time to be root bound..and after a while you can always start a new one and cut that one down :)

Re: Bonsai mother plants
I've always heard of cutting the roots and adding fresh coco, but once the health starts to decline I'd prbly just pot up, take clones and flower her outohlordyeah_420 wrote:I do this as my mother tent is so small. My only worry is the roots getting bound.

Re: Bonsai mother plants
Thats cool. They are only a few months old at the moment so no need to worry yet then.

Re: Bonsai mother plants
I'm finally coming around to the idea of a mother plant. Never disputed the need just don't have the space so this works!
How do you start then? Just take a cutting prior to flowering or can you just reveg a flowering plant?
Thanks @Josh

Re: Bonsai mother plants
Do the AirPots or Fabric pots not resolve the root bound issue?

Re: Bonsai mother plants
Mine are in large seedling pots. About the size of the us solo cup, maybe smaller. Small air or fabric pots would work i guess.
