Photography softbox lighting

Post by chronicthehemphog »

Hey everyone :bye:

So as the title says this is about photography softbox lighting.
Basically I'm looking at getting a parabolic reflector (probably the secret jardin dy60) but ended up looking at studio lighting 🤷🏼‍♂️ anyway long story short you can get some really nice looking shades and I was just wondering if......

Anyone has tried it?
Does it work?
I know they tend to be CFL but seen some that take 5 bulbs 🤷🏼‍♂️ would this help overcome the smaller bulbs 🤷🏼‍♂️ (they're e27)
Could they easily be converted to take other light systems?
Do they give a more concentrated light spread?

So there we go, I'm sure we'll have more questions than answers with this but let's go 👍Image
A friend in need is a friend indeed but a friend with weed is better :Stoned:

I would be interested to know if you could get like a 6 bulb one and run LED bulbs instead of cfl. I don’t know tho lol I’m not a led dude so I would listen to GMO. They do look cool tho

Also I'd consider the heat output from the lights you're thinking of using. Obviously hps produces a lot of heat and most leds need heatsink. I wouldn't bother personally :Stoned: as there is such huge choice on the market to simply plug and play

Yeah I agree with that, was thinking maybe for veg tent 🤷🏼‍♂️ (tent is 60x90 these are 50x70) it says the bulb's included are 55k 🤷🏼‍♂️ this is all hyperthetical at the mo lol,
Other thought was use them outside the tent but in the groom for extra veg space lol.

What about the included CFL bulbs?

I could be wide of the mark here, but our internal photographer has something similar and she says they reflect a nice white balance light but they tend to lack red and blue light(i.e. that part of the light spectrum gets absorbed) and she has to touch up the images in photoshop to get a better representation of real colour. that info may not be relevant to these lol, but i thought i'd share that thought with you :)
This needs looking into as that is a major part in all this, was thinking maybe remove front diffuser and have a big deep parabolic? 🤷🏼‍♂️

See this is what I was thinking, have like 3 grow lights and maybe a uva and a uvb? If they're even available? 🤷🏼‍♂️
