Coco from Wilko's

Post by weedabix »

Hi,
I have run out of media for my plants so I just went to buy some coco coir at Wilko's. So they are still open in case anyone in the UK is in the same predicament.
Does anyone have experience with it? Is it buffered? It says it's amended with some fertiliser but I that could just be dry amendments right? I think I am gonna rins it and buffer it with calmag just in case.

I like idea of washing it out with just water and then buffering by soaking overnight in cal/mag. Out of interest what ec of cal/mag would you pre-soak it in around 0.4-0.6 ?

I have previously prepared coco bricks that way. I followed my coco’s instructions with an EC of at least 1200. It works for my current run. The coco from wilko is different though. It’s very fine, and apparently contains some fertiliser.

1200 EC im lost ? The canna coco pro + is a fine mix.

But yes i think rinsing out the ferts as much as you can firstly is way to go. I was gonna get me some cheapo coco too and prep it with cal/mag i was just wondering dose, but i think 0.4 ec soaked overnight won`t cause too much of a problem when i plant out into it.

Cheers mate
