Bluelab EC pen or Truncheon?

Post by wutang »

Hey guys

My EC pen gave up so I'm looking at getting something better. I'm torn between the bluelab ec pen and the truncheon. Any help would be appreciated especially from.users of these devices.

Bless up
Wu

Them truncheons can;t be calibrated.

Mine's been out of calibration since day 1 and bluelab don;t want to know.

Expensive flashy stirring stick at the end of the day for me.

I;d grab something that can at least be calibrated.

Edit - Just to add, I see no need for EC pens once you know that 1ml of A+B from canna is about 0.425 EC in 0EC water.

If you need a stirring stick for your res, I have 70 birch broom handles here of no use to me (please don;t ask why) I can let you have them for a very good price!

Feks sake how did I miss that. That's stupid they can't be calibrated!

Haha I use an old metal draw runner...it probably increases my ec as the white paint flakes off a little into the nutrient mix.. maybe that's why my grows are flaking out at flower time haha

Hopefully it's lead paint for an added rush when you toot it!

For me I’d wouldn’t pick anything by bluelabs as I had the truncheon and was shite.

Ending upgrade to a Hanna Groline ec pen comes with its own box to store it in

Ive never used the truncheon but use the pens every day and cant fault them, if either my ec or ph pen broke id definitely buy another bluelab, they last ages. Had cheap ones in the past that have been dead after a month, bluelabs tend to last years.

I use my mates old bluelab pens. They must be around 5 years old and still going strong

I use a cheapo Chinese thing a £5`ver on eBay, tests water temps EC and ppm, it must be 4 years old and still works a treat. Only ever had two in donkeys years, I've found the cheapo EC pens really stand test of time. Where as I've had 4 or 5 cheap PH pens in 20 years which dont have longevity of their EC pens. I really can`t see point spending fortunes on one personally speaking

If i was buying a new branded one i recon the bluelab pen is a better buy than truncheon as already said by others.
