Nutrient heater
Ok so I've got myself one of these newa submersible fish tank heaters to warm my res up as its been getting a bit cold, im planning on sticking it in my collapseable reservoir. Are there any dangers i should be made aware of before i start using it?
Im a tad worried it could melt through the res and cause a flood or a fire

Re: Nutrient heater
It's designed for glass right? So how about you place it inside a glass before putting it into your resevoir?Nom wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 11:57 amOk so I've got myself one of these newa submersible fish tank heaters to warm my res up as its been getting a bit cold, im planning on sticking it in my collapseable reservoir. Re: Nutrient heater
I use mine in a plastic water butt. And I had some magnetic feet things from the petshop (about a tenner) which I used to replace the suction cups. It elevates it away from the plastic as well. Although I suspect your collapsible res is a thinner plastic than my water butt?

Re: Nutrient heater
Yeah I’d definitely be wary of putting it against a plastic container those things can get hot, you could also get some bamboo make an cross with them cable tied or taped together then you can cable tie the heater to the centre of the cross and suspend it in the centre of the res.

Re: Nutrient heater
I've stuck it to the inside of a thick glass jar and slung it in the bottom of the res, kind of like a ship in a bottle.
Time to see what happens i guess

Re: Nutrient heater
Just keep an eye on it. It can't get that hot can it? Would fry the fish otherwise
