Re: CMH / HPS / LED a̶r̶g̶u̶m̶e̶n̶t̶... DISCUSSION.
Personally I love growing led and have had some epic results , but only in summer,
I find led growing for me in the winter is just a no no due to lack of heat, when it gets to September I tend to put 1 led panel along side a 400w hps for best results

That looks like what I'm looking at.Treetrunk wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 12:49 pmhttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164457846897 ... media=COPY
Hey @Marcus is this any good? Seems a bit of a bargain with the bulb.
I was thinking of getting one for winter use.
How long does a bulb last?
I started looking at the gavita with the philips bulb for £300, but am wondering if a cheaper unit would be just as good.??
Bulbs are recommended to be changed yearly, but that may just be bollocks. I changed my bulbs whenever I find them switched off when they should be on during the day. Maybe every 18-24 months?
The philips agro bulb is the dog's danglies. But at £80 a pop I get drawn to the cheaper ones that don't last 6 months. I have had a philips bulb glass crack once, was over 12 months old so out of warranty, but I did speak to a nice chap at philips who told me tough shit it's out of warranty! At least they reply to emails, probably would have sent me a new one if it was still in date.
Edit - Farting hell, they're at £100 a bulb in most places now.

https://www.dimluxlighting.com/knowledg ... d-its-big/
Dimlux sell LED and CMH and HPS lights, that's quite a balanced article on the pros and cons of LED vs CMH.
I may punt for a new CMH, Freud 's repetition compulsion comes to mind with me and LEDs.
"We feel driven to repeat mistakes from the past in the hopes that this time the situation will work out differently, but it rarely does. To break free, you must identify the pattern."
Or will it work out alright on the night if I play my cards right, this time around???
I'm up for a Brucey bonus! Higher than an Ace you say???

I'll order one. It's worth a pop at a £100. I struggle with temperature in the winter using led. I'll veg with LED and use the CMH for flower.Marcus wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 4:28 pmThat looks like what I'm looking at.Treetrunk wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 12:49 pmhttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164457846897 ... media=COPY

Did a bit of research and the Phillips D Papillon is supposed to be pretty good.
Just ordered one for £230 with the 3100k Phillips bulb.

It was the last one. I even got £20 knocked off for being a miserable old git.
I'll be bombarding you with questions when I get it

Hey @Marcus
The eagle has landed.
It's actually running cooler than the LEDs. I was running 320w across 3 board's with the driver's outside the tent.
The CMH is running a couple of degrees cooler.
The instructions say a hanging height of 30 inch. I'm at about 26.
It came with the Phillips Green bulb.
Really pleased with it.

Make sure you leave that bulb switched on for a bit to burn in and let the chemicals bond in the tube. (you may already know that, I do and I still forget sometimes with a new bulb )
I think I'm going back down the Philips bulb route. I had my extract on for the 1st time today and struggled to hit 20*C with this LED unit. I know the CMH will be at 25*C all day long.
Your leds must kick out some heat then.
I suppose I best get my credit card dusted off then...
I do like that unit you've got. Sell it to me!
