Now I am in a dilemma lol
I was of the belief the lights/spectrums would just all mix and reflect amongst each other off the tent walls?
lol i think youre venturing into largely unchartered territory so guinea pig time maybe !!
i did run both for a short time... i did switch the plants around to try keep canopies as level and node space / stretch levels similar
i think youre right the spectrums will mix / bounce off walls but directly underneath where the intensity is highest will be the very differing spectrums of each light
will defo work either way, question is which way works best..?
good luck finding out along the way
happy grow bro

Re: First time combining led and hsp
Some of the biggest grows Ive seen have been a mix of HPS and LED. Youll be fine with both.

Re: First time combining led and hsp
I slowly made the move to LED 2 years ago starting in veg, I changed just 1 in flower to begin with 25% led 75% HPS, currently 75% led & 25% HPS heater, I’ll go 100% once the weather warms up a bit.
If you trained on HPS then yeah there is a difference also difference depending on your led diode choice.(personally I’d stick with Samsung).
I honestly don’t notice much difference in the plants as long as you feed them correctly, the buds however are slightly smaller but tighter & heavier. HPS setup is/was cooltubes so with the glass on the bulb and the tube I’ve not noticed any loss from UV as the glass was killing most of it anyways.
The main difference when compared to HPS at least for me in my setup has been been the strength of the base feed & extra calmag & Epsom salts for more MG, led seems to drive the plants harder. Also need to run slightly warmer temps too as I’ve lost the IR from the HPS.
I use dimmers so I’ve yet to experience any light burn or bleaching.
Running at night will help temperature management.
Any help questions or out I can do, your welcome to pick me brain. Cheers

Re: First time combining led and hsp
I expect Keeno was referring to a checker board pattern layout hps/led in series, row after row creating a checker board pattern.
