I like idea of mimicking onset of Winter, cooler temps and maybe a an hour less lighting, maybe it pushes plant into overdrive to force out more rezin and finish plant up nicely. No science their but just more shit in my head and i dont do it, i just like idea of it. 8-)
That's the thing tho dude. Sometimes science can be overwhelming and can do more bad than good if you don't understand and truly know how to read your plants. I'm still a novice with only a couple of grows under the belt which have been crap. This time in soil I seemed to have reached a decent ish grown with a couple of deficiencies which were probabaly down to temps, underwatering etc. But I now know how to read them a bit better and understand the process in soil rather than my previous grows in NFT.
Summink that cracks me up in a big way is this one, tis when you see peeps upping this that and other instead of just looking at plants firstly, im all for clocking plants and if they`re looking good why fuck around changing stuff about, tis best way to go by for sure. Good stuff mate. :oik!:

I guess its a case for some that "can i make it do better, can I push it so I get bigger buds and yields etc" each to their own...I am yet to get through a grow with not fekkin up a thing...I'm getting better, by learning and also like you said reading the plants and checking all factors before changing anything too much too often, and adding stuff into the mix
