Newbie advice - rapid rot / dehydration

Post by Krazydayz »

Hi guys. My 2wk old auto suffered with extreme rot/dehydration. I flushed her this morning and misted her, left her in the bath for a couple of hours until the mist had dried. This worked she is now reaching for the lights again.

My question is, 70% of the plant is damaged. Spite the leaves curling, blacking and mutations these leaves have still positioned them selves to absorb the light.

When or should I start removing the rot?? I’m 100% confident she’s on the mend.

I think my problem was a silica overdose, I prepped my soil with 3ml silica (won’t be doing it again) then when I gave her water the silica rotted out the plant.. it happened so fast!

Would need to see the plant, but what you're describing doesn't sound like root rot. You mentioned that you added a bunch of Si just before the issue. If you're using K2SiO3 to add Si, you may have damaged the roots if you applied a lot. It's a strong alkaline too, so you would send the PH way above acceptable levels.

You would need to provide some details about your setup for a coherent response. Without knowing the details, it's anyone's guess.

Agree with seymore. Would need to see the plant.
Depending how far along it is, I'd considder binning it, if it is as bad as you say. Autos can be picky buggers.
