I read a study a long time ago on using more or less hours of light for flowering. The conclusion to the study was 12/12 gave a higher percentage of thc. So im old school like 2 scoops if not broke why fix it.

Looks like the extra hour really accepted your plants. It could also be an environmental issue exacerbating the issue as it doesn't look like its gone back into veg but rather the inflorescence haven't formed correctly. Overfeeding can definitely cause this to happen. Especially if you're super heavy on N. The plants will prefer to grow leaves.
As for light period, it all depends on thr cultivar. Some will won't me affected and other will. We will never know because no one knows the real origin of most cultivars nowadays. 12/12 is a safe, tried and tested approach, but you could improves results with some cultivars by playing with light cycles.
