Harvesting...quick time

Post by wutang »

Hi All,

I just wanted to get some advice, as time is the limiting factor for me at the moment in regards to the harvest;

Usually I would manually trim all the buds, and hang indoors in my tent with extraction on a clothes drying rack. In the past that's overdried my buds, but thats probably due to me being a novice, and too much extraction.

So this time, I am growing in the shed, cold ass UK temps.

When it comes to harvest, I would like to be in and out of the tent pretty quickly.

I was thinking of purchasing one of those hanging drying nets, but I've only ever seen people dry cut/manicured buds on those, and not branches etc.

1. Presumably the best method is to hang them upside down until dry and then jar up?

2. Is there another option to trim when wet, cut the buds and then put on the drying nets? Presumably that slows down the chlorophyll degradation process? Would the buds need to be turned every so often? How would you do the 'stem snap' test to ensure they are dried and ready to cure?

I am thinking of getting a bowl trimmer, regardless of whether I trim wet or dry. (EDIT: read that you can obviously only use them when buds are wet to they can grab the leaves as they aren't curled in, if using when dry it will mash up the buds)

I'm curious to see how everyone else manages this.

Thanks in advance.

Wu

I use a spin bowl trimmer it can be used on wet or dry bud depending on blade you use 1 for each type, wet/dry chop, i just rip off all fan leaves and buds whilst wet and i then sling buds in spin trimmer and then hang it in net like your on about now. Basically though if its just your own bud you dont really need a trimmer just rip all fan leaves off and chop plant at stalk bottom and hang it with all sugar leaves on and just pick buds off once dry. Either that or just remove fan leaves and rip buds off plant with finger n thumb and sling them in drying net, really quick jobby, nowt down for fooking around chopping. :oik!:

Yes id say about same time tbh, the last lot i jarred up after 5 or 6 days for curing i forgot which now but i think 6 days. But the trimming theirs no messing, i think last lot i took down took 2 hours prolly less before it was hung drying, that said their wasn`t shed loads of bud, weight was around 13oz dry before jarring up mate. :)

@2-Scoops do you have a link to the trimmer?

Man manual trimming buds when wet was a right pain in the ass last time. She was a beast an weighed in at 9oz when dry. Doing that by hand took too much time. I just dont have the time now lol

So when you wack them in the net, how do you know they're dry if you don't have any sticks to go by, as you would if you were hanging them from sticks or the whole plant normally?

The net seems like a simple solution to me, I can't be arsed with a clothes drying rack and the pegging the fekkers on.

So I'm deffo going down the hanging net route, just need to work out the process :) cheers for your input dude

@wutang i bought it from E-bay its one of these the 16incher https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HYDROPONICS- ... SwGIRXcUVW i didnt buy it from those guys though but it looks cheapest. Sure makes light work of trimming and you get lots of real nice crap left in bottom for cooking up, making oils or whatever else you wanna do with it.
