Power Si and potassium silicate. Any growers first hand experiences?

Hey everyone,

So I have been hearing a lot of debate around potassium silicate and the product power SI. The short story is that potassium silicate is beneficial for pant health and stem strength, leading to overall increase in yields. However, apparently regular potassium silicate is not very bio available to plants, so they don't have the ability to uptake all of the potassium silicate on their own. In steps Power SI with the following claim:

"Power Si is the original patented form of stabilized, bioavailable silicic acid for crops. Unlike other silica products, we work with the best possible silicic acid matrix (patented) to enable superior absorption. Power Si is a proprietary organic biomix containing highly boiavailable micro and macro nutrients. It is a pure, highly concentrated formula with fast visible effects. Power Si also increases nutrient absorption and bioavailability of all other nutrients by acting as an efficient transporter. Furthermore, Power si reduces nutrient salt build-up and dehydration of your crops. Power Si corrects and reduces the space between internodes caused by environmental stress and nutrition imbalances improving your crops overall health."

Which is cool...I just have one problem. A bottle of Power Si is $200 NZ for a 500ml bottle. Granted dilution is 1ml per 6L....but I don't know about anyone else...but that's a serious amount of money to drop on a nutrient line for a home grower.

So does anyone have any first hand experience with power SI...i'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Right now I cant imagine I will ever pay that kind of money on a growing additive, but you never know.

I’ve been wondering about this stuff too. They definitely put a lot of money behind promotion, so it’s tough to trust anyone on IG saying it’s great. Ha.

Never used it . Ive used Agsil and Growsil with good results though .

This seems a silly price for something that would naturally happen in nature when you think about it.

I have taken "si" into consideration in my organic grow, as far as I am aware it is the water and microbes which help break things down and make them readily available to my plants. Now I thought using Humic and Fulvic acids helped break things down alongside the microbiome? Not sure about si specifically?

This is just an expensive chelating agent maybe, just clever promoting of the product, just my opinion .

Yes its in abundance in dirt is Si, tbh i always thought Si a hydro additive although you see plenty use it in dirt these days. Si is summink i try not to be without it growing in coco it tops my list of additives before anything else.

Not heard or used the one in question posted by OP but it sure sounds a bit snakey at that price.

Yeah that seemed to be my feeling. I'm interested to hear if there is anyone else on the forum using it.

I worked it out, at the price of a $200 bottle, its probably going to cost you about $66 for a 10 week flower cycle. That's still some long paper for essentially a better Si additive.
