Changing light cycle mid flower

Post by wutang »

Hey all

Just curious to know if people have ever changed their light cycle whilst in flower to change what time lights off/on take place.

For example, if I wanted to switch the times for light and dark cycle, how would you do it? Would you let them stay in the dark for longer and then adjust from that point?

I don't intend on doing it, but its good to know if I need to for whatever reason :)

Peace

Wu

I change my timer 10 mins or so at a time until I'm at 12/12 then jot that note in the diary.
I think its more natural and they get less stressed that way.
I have been keeping an eye out for a controller which would come on gradually in stead of suddenly going from dark to light in a split second.

Plants have circadian rhythms, they know what time it is, they know when the lights are due on and due off if you watch them.

I'd be interested to see a side by side grow where one tent is flipped mid bloom cycle to have night when it was day and day when it was night.
Like our body clock. That's why I think doing it gradually works better.

Some interesting points. The plant would naturally be seeing less light all the way through until it wold drop it's leaves etc.... Once at 12/12 I wouldn't change it and never have done.

I do not like to do it but if needs must will always go longer with the lights out period to adjust to the new timings.

interruption of the light cycle imho will stress the plant somewhat !!! if its already triggered flowering,in veg it wouldn't matter so much ! :oik!:

I've haven't had to completely swap the 12 hours over, but I have had instances where the power goes out. From what I understand, it is far better to have an extended dark period rather than continuous light. I'd think that in the extra dark, the plant just thinks, cool an extra long nap. But in the continuous light it will start to react hormonally to the stimulation, which is not the hormones you want flowing during flower.
after all bach i think peeps gotta wake up + realize plants are living organisms or some shit. :idn:

Some informative responses dudes. That's what I love about this place...I hope you guys don't mind me posting stuff like this? I love learning from others as well as experimenting myself...however if I can save myself a disaster by asking you masters, then so be it. Lekky too damn expensive.

One love to each and all
