The led light I am using, my plants don't turn as purple as they did under hps lights or the sun, is this normal using led lights?
Pogk x Harlequin f4, high cbd low thc, still haven't named it.
Sorry for the pic showing the little purple the plant has.

Re: Purple plants and led lights?
Hey,
Different spectrums can influence traits like colour but, if you was seeing more purple using HPS or natural sun, it was probably due to the leaf surface temperature being lower under LEDs.
Maybe try bring the LED closer to the canopy?

Re: Purple plants and led lights?
I use LED and I ALWAYS get some purps lol. It's mainly down to genetics but low night temps also play a part. It's not always purple buds, sometimes just colourful leaf but I get a lot of dark bud, black or brown and probably less than 50% green nugs depending on what I'm growing. Not that often do I actually get purple buds unless it's a full purple strain. Cheers

I don't get purple all of the time but, anything that is meant to go purple, goes more purple when grown under LED in my experience.biosynthetic wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2024 12:04 pmI use LED and I ALWAYS get some purps lol. It's mainly down to genetics but low night temps also play a part. Re: Purple plants and led lights?
if you look really hard you can see some purple. Normally my purples are so much darker by this time of flower. Thinking of buying a different led sooner or latter and see if it helps.

Re: Purple plants and led lights?
There are a few things that make the purples come out.. First being the genetics. Some strains are way more purple than others. my sour diesel was never purple. Second. UV lights. that's the spectrum that'll pop out purple colors. UV-A for the purples, and UV-B for the trichomes on the sugar leaves. Third. Temperature. Lows into the 60's at night. produces a purple response. Fourth, Flower Time. some strains take 10 weeks to turn purple/mature. again. it's genetics.
My favorite add-on to a large LED light is a T5 UVB 10.0 bulb. Those LED "uv diodes" are usually just 395nm. even the ac infinity ionbeam U-4 is 395nm/365nm.

Re: Purple plants and led lights?
Yep, any of my purple strains i have grown with this led light hasn't had the color that they have before growing them. Even the black rose wasn't as purple. The purple I am talking about is an incomplete dominant purple not temp controlled. So it's just interesting to me that I am not getting the dark purple like i should be.
