RDWC or IWS flood and drain.... GO!
Hi all,
I am considering a PROPER home made RDWC system OR a flood and drain.
This will be for my outside grow room once done ( inside ones are going, cant wait to have a proper area again! )
Either system will be 6 or 8 plants.
My worry is noise of a RDWC and cost of running - ie pumps, chiller, etc etc.
My worry with IWS is ive never ran it, cheaper systems like my old DWC use crappy pipes that are too thin and block so flood risks, etc and those damn pebbles... got I picked hundreds of them up last time I used them.
Thoughts all.... Looking for good yeilds, as little maintenance as possible :D

The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.

So looking into it,
An 8000l per hour pump uses about 70w
A hailea HC300 uses 400w
A Hailea silent airpump uses 35w
Thats 505w just to run a RDWC system.
Over a month based on 17p per unit of leccy, thats £62.50 or so a month without lights, fans, etc.
As far as I can tell, a flood and drain systen uses 6x 15m a day at max usage. This is also a maxijet 1000 pump using 13w.
Over a month this equates to £00.08p
Fair saving...

I would go flood and drain bro, I just simplified all my grooms and it was the best decision I've ever made! My chiller is now collecting dustNanook wrote:So looking into it,

The only thing with building a rdwc system in trying to find good bulkheads. I was looking into building one but the bulkheads are expensive and they are hard to find in 2 inch

40mm solvent weld works out at best price per size i used it on my last system and it all worked ok but anything bigger seems to double up in price as you go
