Looking for silent air pump suggestions

Post by RubberChicken »

Hi guys

I hope everyone is keeping safe and well.

I am looking for a silent  air pump, or the quietest one from experience?

I am currently using a Hailea aco 9810, but that's not quiet enough. I'm running 4 x 4" air stones but might want to add a couple more.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone :thanks:
I will check them out.

It's not the bubbles, Captain. It's the drone of the pump.
The quest continues. cheers

I have seen those. If you want really silent then they rock but they are so expensive

I would imagine there is a way to 'DIY' one but electric and water...

When I used to silent air pumps I used to modify the box and styrofoam so it could run in the box. Soundproofing anything is about stopping the soundwaves. You want to silent something, cover it in dense material to stop the waves :) make sure the pump can breath though. You can normally scrub half the noise off by suspending the pump in mid air though. You'd be supprised in the difference. Touching anything will amplify the noise a shed load.

Good tip. I have mine sat on a anti-vibration matting suspended in the air with bungees but I am now going to wrap it all in a little fabric tent based on your advice. Little bit ghetto but the less noise the better.
