Hi Guys,
So after a little Problem determination with resident bush doctor GMO, It seems my battles are now conclusive. I have an incredibly hard water supply.
So this being new to me I wondered if there are any of you out there using Hard Water Feeds ? or if you have done in the past.
If so any suggestions or advise are most welcomed.
Many thanks in advance,
Smokes

Re: Hard Water Feeds.
Hard water here too.
Use the shogun range and their hard water feed chart as a guide. I have cut the calmag down by 3 quarters of the reccomended feed. Their a and b seems to be quite good for us
My background ec is round .3 to .5.

Re: Hard Water Feeds.
Its the base feeds that concern me at the, mo if i can dial them in i have a fighting chance lolMarcus wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2020 12:23 pm
I wouldn't...
But I really haven;t had any issues since switching from canna to DP.
Well, apart from some seedlings getting scorched recently, but that was user error, very low humidity and I forgot to rinse the bugger out of my canna coco before popping them in.
EDIT - the stuff is cheap enough to give it a go. I used their Explode booster and every plant hermied once, so I only use their base feeds now and a spot of canna PK if needed.

Re: Hard Water Feeds.
I always steered clear from Shogun because of their price ranges. I don't know how or why they inflate them so much but never say never my dear, I'll be looking into them now.
Thanks a million

Re: Hard Water Feeds.
I'm paying about same price as the canna a and b for the shogun stuff but I get from shop rather than internet. 16 quid for 1litres
Their sales guy is good and helpful. Very easy to get hold of too.

Re: Hard Water Feeds.
Softwater ferts are same as hard water ferts but have added calcium and magnesium in them by the way. Basically if you suffer cal/mag issues it would be cheaper to buy softwater ferts instead of hardwater ferts and cal/mag together. Just thought i`d mention that if peeps wanna save £/$
Generally though im of opinion that what peeps think are cal/mag issues it would just be case of upping your base ferts and that should sort it. It`s prolly just summink simple like underfeeding most the time.

Re: Hard Water Feeds.
So if i get what you said their, basically your saying Dutch Pro softwater ferts dont have added cal/mag in comparison to their Hard water ferts yes ? I was told and led to believe by guy in shop softwater ferts contain more cal/mag (calcium oxide in particular) what with softwater having very little minerals if any in comparison to hard water which is full of minerals mainly calcium carbonate (shitty and hard for plant to use). So yes what with my water being 0.3 he advised softwater ferts for said reasons, going back in time here but ive always been all gravy since using softwater ferts and have never ran into issues caused by lack of minerals. Well i did once upon a time years back, but long ago before i got things sorted on Hard and Soft menu is that one.Marcus wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 6:01 amHi Jimmi,jimmi2scoops wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2020 8:13 pmSoftwater ferts are same as hard water ferts but have added calcium and magnesium in them by the way. RO and soft water will have a low pH (7ish) and low EC and hardwater has a pH of 7.5upwards with a higher EC.
Both the Dutch Pro hard and softwater ferts are exactly the same chemical make up, but were developed for different water types to buffer the pH better. They don;t have extra cal/mag added.
Hard water ferts were developed with 1985 Amsterdam water and the softwater 2009 UK water. PH of the hard water ferts is 1pH and the sofwater ferts 4.5pH, it helps them to suit the different water types.
