Dripper system

Post by RewisL19 »

Hi all

Just wondering if someone can help me with a dripper system build please? I already use a irrigation system with a 7000lph submersible pump, and I have 2 x 4mm tubes running to each pot and I give them a good flood for around 2/3mins but I want to go down the dripper system method.

The grow shop has informed me I need a big pump to keep pressure for even flow, but surely a 7000lph pump is way too overkill for 8 plants on drippers? I don’t mind spending some money as long as it’s going to be a bang on job :)

What model pump do you have buddy? Also, how far is the tank away from the pots etc. 7000lph sound way over the top for the task.

Hi mate, I have the aqua king 7000lph not sure on the exact model name. Yeah even I said to them I’m pretty sure that’s too much power but they seemed pretty positive about it 🤔. The res will be sitting right outside the tent so it doesn’t have far to go at all, a meter max to get in to the tent

So that should be plenty. The drippers will provide plenty of backpressure to keep the flow even. I always test with a couple of mugs before I use anyway.

Edit: That pump has a 8m head height  They talking rubbish I would even consider something smaller because if you have too much pressure and one of the drippers get blocked it could pop off and dump a shit load of water over your tent. The Wilma 4 pot uses a mj1000 which has a flow rate of 1000lph and a head height of 1.3m. I used a mj1000 for a 16 pot setup.

Have you got a pressure reducer? As some dripper can not go over a certain bar. I used a jet stream 1.0 for 4 with a rainbird filter with build in pressure reducer.

No mate I don’t have a reducer as I’ve not needed one just yet. I’ve just used a tap to control flow. if you could, could you snap a picture for me please of how yours is set up? Would help a friend out insanely :)

How many drippers per pot mate? Yes I’m definitely going to look at something smaller, I understand the pressure side but like you said it’s stupid overkill :)

The pump that came with my Wilma tank is 500 lph and that runs 4 drippers.
I would say 1000 lph for 8 :idn:

It runs 4 drippers or enough for 4 plants (2 drippers per plant) ?

I run one dripper per 11 litre pot with clay pebbles. On For 15 minutes every 4 hours during lights on.
