Another energy rise in October - 32%

Apparently there will be another rise in the cost of energy in October - 32%. That would be a true killer!

a couple of years ago if you told me we would not be able to buy toilet roll, be locked in our homes, have people deciding whether to eat or stay warn... Id have laughed you out of the room. The worst part IMO is that things never go down, we have to just adjust. Ill believe anything now and a 32% increase in energy, that will be the next of many.

That`s gonna do squat to help joe blogs out with his household bills, in fact quite the opposite cus it will just push up inflation higher.


This Octobers increase has been known about for 12 months, they`ve simply split the 100% rise over 12months, i think the fucking energy giants woulda done it all in one price hike cus they dont give two fucks had it not been for Government capping it each time. Its all writ in stone man, theirs no scaremongering going down. Lots fucked up mate.

There will indeed be another massive jump in October as the current prices are still way below what the energy companies want to charge. For example, mine went up from about £250pcm to £700pcm if I take one of their deals atm. The weird thing was that it was in the middle if I just let my contract roll out. After a little digging it would seem that the current cap of 26p/kwh is currently keeping the price down. The cheapest rate I could get fixed was 37p/kwh! That would suggest that the next rise will be around the 42% mark! Hopefully not but 30% seems a pretty reasonable guess.

This is why I'm investing a little money in a PPFD meter do I can fine tune my equipment to use as less as possible without loosing too much output. Brace yourselves if you're in the UK though because it's going up a shit load more in October.

Ofgen want to increase the amount of adjustments they can do to the cap per year too. Currently it's every 6 months.

One thing is for sure, it will devastate the hobbyist out there. It will be cheaper to buy than grow your own. People will not risk growing or take the months to do so. Crazy times.
