So Russia has invaded the Ukraine .... how sad my thoughts are with Ukraine , its like us getting in our cars and leaving everything we know , unthinkable , but wheres this going for everyone , we all know Putin is a nutter , what you all thinking

In all honesty it was bound to happen, i blame nato as much as russia. What's been happening would be the equivilant of a china/russia/iran and a few others maybe forming a group called EETO (everyone else treaty organisation) and then using their joint influence to make it appealing for south american countries to join lets say mexico for arguments sake. And then sticking a military base there with plenty of missiles etc. Thats pretty much whats been happening since the collapse of the soviet union in eastern europe. I doubt america would be too happy to have EETO bases on their doorstep with missiles within 300 miles of Washington. Not saying I agree with russia because i dont and war is retarded we should have gotten over that egotistical bs as a species by now, especially since we see ourselves as intelligent. I'm more concerned how the industrial military complex operates to be honest and the corrupt wankers with vested interests we all keep voting for, not that theres any real choice or options anyway. I often wonder if the slate needs wiping clean and starting again or if what we have is actually salvageable. But yeh, war anywhere at all is just no. But then, guns dont kill people, rappers do. I seen it in a documentry on BBC 2.

I got an idea, everytime we have a war how about we put the leader of each country who wants a war in a ring and let the fight to the death. Or the only people who get sent to war are those who earn over 100k a year. Bet you a tenner there would be way less wars. Sorry rant over

I'd like to say just one thing about this discussion. I'm kinda proud of our community at least to this point to not have let this come to personal attacks. I only want to pre-emptively remind all we are not a political forum, that said there's no reason we can't discuss such topics. Remember someone here you may disagree with has no ability to effect what's going on any more than you do. Situation sucks, I hate the loss of any lives for any reasons, I don't say that lightly as a veteran myself. Please just remember we are a canna community, a family I'd even say, so any discussion shouldn't go to the point of argument IMHO. The internet is endless there are many places for hardcore political discussion/argument. Thank you all for listening.

I agree @Sage . its a terrible human tragedy for Ukraine from a despot dictator who doesnt recognise Ukraine's right to exist. It's been coming a long time and i don;t really agree with @Nom on the reasons but he makes valid points. I'm on other sites for intel and discussions so won;t hold them here :)

Lets hope for a swift conclusion.

Yes, it's a bad situation for Ukranians and Russians, we're all humans at the end of the day and it's been nice to see them protesting in Moscow.

I'm following some war nerds on twitter keeping up with the tech and hardware being used. One good guy to follow is @RALee85 .

Its also amazing how Rees-Mogg's investment firm dumped £44.5 million of shares in a Russian bank just 2 days before the sanctions... How lucky is that guy!
