Aeroponic propagator - mushy stems
Anyone used an aero prop before? I want to know where I keep going wrong as I used to have 100% success rate with cuttings. I’ve got an x-stream 20 site and I’ve done 2 sets of cuts now after the summer and about 50% of them go mushy at the stem.
As I said, I've had 100% success rate before the summer, and sometimes they rooted as fast as 3 days!
I've cleaned it inside out couple of times and sprays seems to be working normal but @kbag suggested changing them.
If anyone has any other ideas, please share. I'll keep you updated on the final outcome.

What Mo said.
Soak the whole rig, bits and all, in some brewer's sanitizer or the like.
Maybe dip the stems in some aloe before popping em in the cloner?

Re: Aeroponic propagator - mushy stems
I always use hot water and bleach to clean things before using them, cleaned my cloning machine this way and just had a fresh batch of clones the other week, all stems were fine but they did take longer to root than they normally would.
Didn’t do anything different to normal. How do you have your pump set? I like mine on for 15 minutes and off for an hour repeated for 24hrs

Re: Aeroponic propagator - mushy stems
I've cleaned them very very well mate. I've soaked them in fairy and all sorts of cleaning stuff. Then jet washed them many times, soaked them in clean water, cheanged it few times. About 48 hrs in cleaning for them.

The sprays are workign 24/7. Always been like that. As said, few months ago, root rate was 100%. Not sure what happened now.

Re: Aeroponic propagator - mushy stems
might be worth getting some flower of sulfur and dunking the clones (not including the cut site). just to be sure they havent got some pathogen waiting on the outside. i like mafoos aloe idea too

Re: Aeroponic propagator - mushy stems
Perhaps it’s just the time of year, I know growing indoors we create our own light cycles and things but in nature things aren’t meant to grow much this time of year.
Maybe it’s down to air pressure and things like that?
I know there are certain days your meant to plant seeds for best results and same with harvesting things outside, maybe it has the same effect on clones indoors? perhaps it’s just Mother Nature telling things to hold back.
I don’t know just a thought, seems odd that 3 of us have troubles at around the same time

Re: Aeroponic propagator - mushy stems
Are you using them neoprene collars? They can hold a fair bit of moisture I beleive and have read they can cause a few problems sometimes. A pool noodle cut down to size would hold onto less moisture. Just a thought
