Rik's BIG 75L Living Soil Pot

GREEN HAND ORGANIC

I have been buidling this soil for a long time now. Bugs have been a little issue but I have managed it very well with all natural products.

Only ever heard of good things from https://www.greenhandorganic.com/ and the experience of growing 3-4 grows with these products has given me much confidence in making more of an investment into a big 75 lite pot.

I have done this using horizon layers too:

All GHO, apart from compost and no Coco here.

This was left for one week before even potting up ontop of the horizon layers.

I also innoculated the horizon layers and watered it in before adding compost and the mix in the photo's above.

Yeah me too. Although I want this one to last for life.

I am currently doing a 50L, smaller version of this at the moment.

Oh and I have some biochar innoculation in the making too. Which I have some idea's, maybe something no one has tried before

Sorry rik im a bit thick inoculated with ? thought is just wood thats been slowly burnt charcoal then thats catchs nutes may be and slowly release them ?

Here is a link I watched on how it's made.

Inoculated with microbes, fungi. It has very small holes that microbes can take a home in.
Also bio char will help no end with draught if you forget to water your plants

Did use some OASIS Floral Foam Brick in my pint grow last year to keep the soil wet worked quite well

Heard about biochar years ago from a documentary on the Amazon basin they said charcoal was used to improve the fertility of soils originated in the Amazon basin at least 2500 years ago.

Nice one, I've never heard about the amazon basin and how huge it is! The amazon as general yeah....
Well, they say natural fires like they have in Australia and places, it causes havoc for humans, but it is supposed to be a way of naturally re fertilising the soils. They do controlled burning in some places for forest management, but I think it may be more for controlling the spread of fire.

He explains some interesting points about bio char in that video that I didn't know. A good one to watch if you can find the time.
