Recommendations on low wattage heaters?

Post by Benjic93 »

Since I've flipped my tent in the shed, temps have fallen massively. It's pissed down everyday so far aswell.

I'm running a 2000kw oil radiator. Lights turn off at 4am - 4pm purely to fit around my work and childcare. So obviously 4 in the morning it's freezing.

I have a govee Bluetooth hygrometer. That's telling me my radiator comes on like every 20 minutes to keep my temp stable! My last grow it cost me a fortune!

So... anyone know of any DECENT tube heaters or something with lower wattage? Cheers

I've been the same my flower tent comes on at 9 pm - 830am during i was using a 1kw oil one myself for night times but then decided to get a 45w 1ft greenhouse5 one that don't seem to do anything will recheck tomorrow, to double-check.

When your lights are on do you need to use a heater still or does your light get to the temps you want it to be?

With my 1kw heater, i just turned it down to a 1/4 full

When lights are on the heater doesn't need to come on. Sometimes it's touch and go. Have 2 led boards so now with current weather it's sits about 22/23c have the inkbird set to 21c.

I've wanted tube heaters but like you've just said, I've heard they don't really make much a difference. May help while lights on but doubt they make much of a difference when lights off.

Wish I knew how to turn it down 😂 it's an old one with like 2 switches and a dial. So just on full whack I think lol

I feel that pain, as I have had the heater on with my old light as it only was 100W, but not always. Can I ask also what temp does it get down to i mean how cold does it get and what size tent/room are you in?

would say your house heating could help depending on the setting but as you said 4 am so that's out the window.

I'm defo going to come back to answering this question tomorrow as I'm currently in flush so trying to push temps down. So one-night stand with a tube heater will not hurt them lmao.

Currently, my temp is sitting at 24C, only because my radiator in on low and tent right next to it.

Think I know what you mean by the one where the dial is a timer, If I'm right tho if you switch only 1 switch one then it's only 1kw.

Tip:
have you noticed that once your heater turns off the temp keeps going up a little bit, what I do when this happens is compensate example.

you want 25c so turn the heater off at 25c but raises to 28c - set the heater to turn off at 22 gets to the magic 25

or

make 25C you avrage just set to 23.5c.

I thoey heating to a lower temp so be cheaper than raising high, sorry for the ramble hope this makes sence.

There in a 3x3 shed in a large concrete shed. In the summer it's a sauna. In the winter it's a freezer.

I have my inkbird set at 21c so temps in the tent won't go lower. Soon as it hits 21c radiator will come on.

Iknow what you mean about the temp keep rising. So it'll turn on at 21c and turn off at 23c so the temp will keep rising to about 26c.

I'll have to take a pic of the rad dials see if you know :idn: would be awesome if I could flick a switch and it drops in kW but still gets warm?

My radiator is in the centre of the tent lol. Couldn't have it in the shed. I'd be throwing money away

Ah sorry man, see what I mean about the 2 switches though :idn: will definitely look into that 400w. Looks about half the size aswell so will give me more room for the girls.

I like the little caravan ceramic heaters. They're low wattage and the heat is instant so you don't use a shed ton of energy heating up oil. They work excellent being used with a controller too. You can grab them on amazon for ~£30

I know this isn't really what you asked bro, but could you not find something cheap to try to somehow do a botch job on some insulation inside?(inside the shed not tent obviously lol) I don't really know much about it but would probably work out cheaper than getting a better heater. You could then maybe stick that one on a lower setting. But what do I know 😂
