Flushing
So this is controversial but everyone ive ever met that has done a side by side with flushing plants and without flushing says flushing is a complete myth and is just broscience. Studies have been done that confirm theres no difference and people actually prefered the non flushed bud although there was no confirmed difference in burn taste etc. I will try to link studies. Has anyone done a side by side comparison. Since everyone who tells me its a myth has tested themselves, im inclined to believe it. What the study did find was proof those weeks of straight water does NOT clean the bud of minerals left over nutes as once believed. The conclusion was the benefits of flushing include saving money on nutes and thats it! Who has compared here? Maybe its ec dependant. If love to see someone do the comparison here. Apparently flushing is bro science and its all in thr dry/cure. And apparently flushing is confirmed not to do the things we thought it did. In any way shape or form.

Re: Flushing
Also when you flush in coco, surely you can be like "oh its got two weeks left" so you flush bit its not ready for 3 weeks so you have to chop early.

Re: Flushing
Never flush my stuff. Did it for the first grows and they got hammered with mould. Might not have been the flush, but any grow I've not flushed has been fine.

Re: Flushing
we do flush for 2 weeks but im being tight on nutes, it doesnt flush anything out. It may allow the plant to use up whats left but thats about it. and yes, defo been caught out thinking ive got 2 weeks left and it should have been 3 weeks.
I've never noticed a difference in smoke or cure or drying, that said i havent done a controlled side by side and tbh have no intention of lol.

Re: Flushing
That makes total sense thank you chad.Chad.Westport wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 8:45 amYes, I have done more than a few side by side comparisons. For me, using soil and synthetic feed, if I don't tend to flush the smoke sometimes gives me heartburn. Which is something I also find from some of the Purchases from the store.
In regards to flushing, I really think the determining factor is your medium and feeding. Living soil, with organic components I don't feel needs flushing. Coco that has been pumped to the line during life to maximize growth, I absolutely think that should be flushed to a low ppm.
You're right though, many thoughts, opinions and "I did that bro's".

Re: Flushing
After messing about with flushing/not flushing and some other things I've found I much prefer to use ripen then a few days on water. Ripen is a single part nutrient that had no N so triggers the plant to ripen but doesn't starve the plant and then a few days with water to finish them off. The bud burns nicer and like Chad says you don't get that heartburn feeling after a vape. I was getting the same when not flushing and the leaves were staying green even though the bud was ripe. I've also found flushing/ripen will ripen the plant more even.
