I think this series (8) is really stretching things with some wacky ideas. Erin is on another planet in my opinion. Using items at different scales so they fit her plan.
I wish Gary would pronounce pewter properly. It's certainly not "poota"
I think the money pit is a wild goose chase. If you were going to bury treasure, you wouldn't bury it that deep and then leave messages about digging deeper for it. At some point you're going to want to reclaim the treasure. Plus there's the workforce to think about. They would have needed untold amount to build the shaft. That's too many people to trust and keep their mouths shut.
I think there was treasure on the island at some point, but buried nowhere near as deep as they the money pit. I think it's also already been found, or at least most of it has.
What are your thoughts?...

I do too, but I think that the money pit is a red herring, and as for Erin, well, she really is pulling at strings...Momma bear wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 8:50 pmI love this show as well! Wish I had the same amount of money they throw at this

Re: Curse of Oak Island.
When I was little, my mum bought me an encyclopedia of unsolved mysteries and the one I would always go back to read again and again was the Oak Island Money Pit. Then when I saw it on TV I was amazed that I'd get to see what people find there and I haven't been disappointed.
My theory is that there is something buried there, it's just not at the bottom of a shaft. The main shaft going down would have been the entry way and another tunnel coming off it would lead to wherever the treasure is. Problem is, they set a red herring to make people dig further down instead of sideways and activate the traps. Now it's gonna be a strike it lucky scenario to find the main loot IF it is still down there.
The episode when they hit something hard and pushed it out the way... I think they should have chased that. Was it the chapel vault?
I also think there's more to be found elsewhere on the island. They just don't know it.
To go through so much effort, to bring materials from thousands of miles away, the amount of different groups of people or templars, Spanish, British army, that have been there at different times... Someone put something there at some point... I hope

It doesn't make sense though. If you were going to bury treasure, you'd want to do it with the fewest amount of people possible, and as quickly as possible.KrazyDave wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 9:56 pmMy theory is that there is something buried there, it's just not at the bottom of a shaft. To build a shaft so deep like that would take a lot of men forever to make. The amount of time spent making the scaffolding to support the sides would have been a massive job in itself. Too many people taking too long. I don't buy it.
What would be the point of doing this if it were real? You wouldn't tell people to dig deeper because if it did set off any traps then both the thieves and the person/people who put it there would never be able to get to it again. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a chest there, and when opened, there's a message that says "ha ha, gotcha!" type of thing.
A wise man wouldn't place all of his eggs in one basket, so yes, I think there are/were other spots on the island that had treasure, but I think most, if not all, was found long ago.

Re: Curse of Oak Island.
You're forgetting, back then it was normal to have slaves do most of the manual labour. If they have treasurer to hide, and the funds to get it there, they had funds for slaves. It's obvious that something man made is there underground so someone must have out it there. Look at the artifacts they've found so far that predate the discovery of the pit. Even the cross on the beach linked back to the templars had another bit of lead dated and mined from the same area that was found underground. You can't deny there's something there. Even the bit of parchment found with writing on it proves something is there. They didn't go through all that trouble to bury a scrap of paper did theyThe Aspie Toker wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 11:41 pmIt doesn't make sense though.
