Making EM1/LABS
After looking into composting and bokashi, I discovered a whole new world of micro life. You can buy EM1 ready to use from the bottle, but as composting should be all about using up what we have and being good to the environment, why not get into the swing of things andmake my own.
Effective Microorganism One. Or LABS.
You can seek out Google or The Weedy Gardener https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfOgT8jvwJY&t=646s for any help on this.
This will sit covered but so air can get to it like this for 5-7 days:
Then I can add a pint of milk with 0.1 of a pint of the milky Lactobacillus (LAB's) and let the microbes do their thing. I have heard it has to be whole cows milk. I have a pint of organic whole cows milk to use.
I will update this as I go. Then use it for various things. To add to my watering regime for my plants and I also inted to make EM5 which I can then add to make my Bokashi.
All good fun

Re: Making EM1/LABS
great thread buddy
EM1 and Labs are different tho man
LABs is Lactic acid bacteria serum where EM1 is a yeast, purple sulfur bacteria as well as lactic acid bacteria and then most blend have like 4-10 other microbes added

I also found this searching through the web, trying to cover as many angles as possible for the best processes to make LAB

I found this site the easiest to understand and follow, out of all the sites I have visited so far.

Re: Making EM1/LABS
You can actually buy em-1 in a 1l bottle which goes a long way, I add it to my water/feed on and off throughout the grow to keep the microbe population goin, I have no idea if this improves things but just seems like a good idea to keep the plants healthy and keep bas guys away.

Re: Making EM1/LABS
I also bought a pair of bokashi bins years ago not used them for abit, you put all your kitchen scraps in plus a layer of bokashi bran and it kinda pickles it which when you empty it out speeds up the composting, warning though what comes out when you empty it is prity rant!!
