you can pick up silent canfans on ebay for less than a 1er,even the big ones, them ec fans are exspensive man but more controllability is what you pay for i suppose because they aint any quieter like
Any chance you can post me up a link please
hey @Vador mate,i'm on tor so a pain to log in to ebay but if you search used canfan iso max loads of them come up,the 6 and 8 inch have 3 speed controllers but 10 and 12 you need one, they the ac ones and thats what i use..the ec's are a tad less power hungry on have more control capabilities but you still need to buy the contoller for them and they pricey too
No problem buddy it’s fine.
I’ve just this second came in the garden for a smoke before bed, it’s 1:30am and in the dead of night I can hear the fan, that is not good.
Went ahead and just ordered a can fan q max, just went for the ac version, should be quiet enough anyway.
Thanks for your help everyone

you'll be just fine with the q max mate, they better and quieter than the isomax i got and that is very quiet, tbh all i hear is the air going thru the ducting, but even that could be almost cancelled out with that special ducting, just depends how far you wanna take it really dont it,another thing thats worth considering is getting one of the inline carbon filters canfan do,quite pricey but they dont restrict any airflow so you can run the fan slower..they are really good man

That’s what I was hoping, I noticed the iso has a much bigger airflow but the q is extra quiet, tbh a 5” fan would work for the amount of air I need to move but this is about stealth so I’m not too worried about that, 10” is massive as is lol. 1590m3/hr will be more than enough, only planning on running it at half speed also.

I like the sound of the inline carbon filter, will take a look for one of them now, have you used one? Do they last well?

I’m well impressed they can even make an inline carbon filter, that’s the sort of thing I’d have looked at in a shop and thought nah that’ll never work waste of money.
I really want one now, will be glad to take the filter out of the tent and gain a little bit more headroom

yes mate thats another great advantage is not having it in the grow space,i have mine after the fans, that way any leaks in the duct work still get cleaned, just for peace of mind,so good how they don't restrict the torque of the fans either

Had the 10” can fan turn up today, what a beast.
You have to fit your own plug but that’s not a problem.
Got the plug fitted and plugged it in for a test, this thing moves a lot of air but mine had a slight issue, a couple of blades rubbed on the housing and made a right racket, obviously they didn’t test it before it left the warehouse or they would have noticed that.
Took a bit of sandpaper to it and now she’s silent.
Got the 10” to 6” reducers taped on either side and dragged it into the loft.
Fitting was easy, there’s some hanging hooks on the fan which is nice, I just hung it from the joists with bungies.
I slid some 10” acoustic ducting over the 6” acoustic ducting then fitted the ducting to each side of the fan, when fitted I then pulled the 10” ducting over the reducers.
For good measures I draped a couple of bits of fibreglass over the fan for a bit extra sound deadening.
All done, works amazing, I can’t hear a thing in any of the rooms upstairs, the only noise is coming from the carbon filter now.

Thanks everyone for your comments and advice, you’ve all been a great help

Not a lot to show really, it’s just an ac fan though didn’t go down the ec route.
it looks like this

But mine has a 10” to 6” reducer taped on either side, looks a bit like it fell off the space station. For a controller I’ve got it plugged into the eco tecnics

Works perfect though, I couldn’t hear a thing last night while I was laid in bed, with the old fan I’d fall asleep worrying. Definitely the quietest fan I’ve ever owned
