Great question Cam,

I can give you my anecdotal experience. First I would say I had a lot more problems/funky genetics and crappy plants when I was growing autoflowers. This isn't a shot at auto's, I just found percentage wise, I had issues with about 20% with auto seeds I grew. I have had issues with photo periods, but nowhere near the percentage I had with autos.

Sweet seeds SAD - every seed was total crap, dominant ruderalis genes, which you can't tell until you have invested 2 months of time, space and money. Sweet seeds jack train wreck wasn't an auto. I will never buy or grow Sweet seeds ever again.

Delicious seeds had this purple kush auto that was the worst plant I ever grew....it was very purple though. But had zero potency and a terrible taste. But that said, the Delicious seeds Critical Neville Haze was the best auto i every grew. Also, the Jack Herrer's weren't autoflowers, I had to switch to 12/12 to get them o flower. So its a toss up, they had both the best and worst autoflowers I ever came across.

Fast buds had a lot of variation with their gear. Out of a pack you would get one really good plant, the rest would be kinda ho hum. This would be ok if they were photo's because you can always keep a clone, you miss out on this luxury with autos of course.

Dinafem OG kush was total crap, again the plant was more ruderalis genetics than anything else and you find out way to late in the growth cycle to do anything about it. But I grew other Dinafem autos that were fine.

Sensi seeds photo periods....I was so disappointed when I grew out their Black Domina, I had such high hopes. Its really sad because Sensi once had such a good name. Now I would only every grow out "old school Sensi" seed stock or relatives. I will never again buy any current Sensi seed stock.

Thanks for bringing this topic up Cam, people need to know not all seed stock is equal. :puff puff:
Thanks for the info buddy, hopefully this will come in handy one day for someone :puff puff:

Sucks that the SAD didn't work out for you, I'm running the fast version (photoperiod) and it'll be my keeper for as long as I can have a mother @Treetrunk you just ran this right?

Rediculously fast strain, 7 weeks and she's cooked

Cheers bro, yeah man it sounded like a fantastic cultivar...part of the reason why I was so bummed it didn't work out. From memory it has Black Domina lineage, that's what caught my attention. Glad you got goodie!

Yeah it was the autoflower breeding that caused the issue, the whole plant came out more ruderalis than Afganica. It's a shame, because a couple of bad run-ins with a breeders seeds can put you off that breeder forever.

Definitely super fast. Mother plant took 6 weeks and the Clones took 7 week's.
One I will grow again that's for sure.
I've got my eye on the Cream Caramel to try soon.

I'm quite shocked by this. Sweet Seeds have some fantastic strains in their Photoperiod selection. If you grow Photos I'd recommend the Cream 47. I've not tried the SAD though.

Sensi Seeds are my normal go to as well. First grow was Sensi Super Skunk and it rocked! That was years ago mind. Their Shiva Skunk scared the life outta me.... literally and I just bought 5 strains from them - non autos though. I've given up with autos completely after growing Blue Dream as the bud quality is far superior imo.

Dunno whether you said it or someone else, but I agree that one too many bad seeds can put you off a seed bank for life.

Hey Bro,

Yeah I don't grow autos anymore, this about 3 or 4 years ago. I went through a period of growing of, growing autos, before I learned that they would never deliver me an elite clone smoking experience. I'm looking for excellence, nothing less. So now its photo periods, mostly reg's with the occasional fem. I have heard a lot of people rate them, I just had a poor experience.

I was so sad with my Sensi experience. Then I started to do some digging, listen to a few podcasts and breeder interviews. A lot of people tend to agree that the seed stock today is not that of the 80's and 90's. That in the mid to late 90s, I heard breeders changed and the genetics were lost and thus "watered down". Who knows the degree of the validity...but my personal experience I think there may be truth to that... if you go buy a pack of Sensi Super Skunk today it aint going to be a Skunk of the 90s.

Cheers for the recommendation bro! I am always following smoke signals from people to try and find the fire.

No worries CHC. I know what you mean though. I actually emailed Sensi about the Super Skunk I grew back then asking if they caught the odd pheno I got. It cured and smelled just like a strawberry jam butty youd have as a kid. All 3 plants smelled the same and my mates buzzed off it. I want to grow it again but the last pack of that I got about 4 years ago just wasn't the same at all.

I recommend their Shiva Skunk still as I did that a few grows back and it's still an absolute knockout. First time I tried it, i loaded my pipe, hit it, got nothing. Did this 3 times total and turned to the misses n said it was garbage, strongest skunk my arse! About 10 mins later I had to go to bed and lay there willing my heart to keep beating hahaha I was a mess lmao

You ever heard of DSP Ginetics? They have a site online but I dont know where you would get seeds. Hes a breeder based here and absolutely every grower I know is on his Gene's right now. His Huckleberry Kush and Jedi Kush are supposedly out of this world. I spoke to him though and he's just taken plant A from one seedbank, plant B from another and bred them so I dunno how stable the strains are. Not heard anything bad from them though.

Pop into my diary mate. I've got 5 strains from Sensi I'll be growing out over 2021/22 to find a keeper to possibly do a feminized cross with.

Cheers KD! I'll definitely keep an eye out for your dairy man. Loved to hear/see you results. Man that Shiva sounds like the bees knees, definitely the kind of thing you want to keep a clone of....if she scares you she stays I say haha. I like creeper highs...I smoked some white rhino years ago that did that to. Nothing and then....zam! raceing stoned out of your mind.

Never hear of DSP...sounds like a breeder called Masonic. He does lots of Iconic strain match ups like that. His huckleberry kush sounds good, its funny the Oregon Huckleberry by Dynasty is on my next seed list, always wanted to grow that plant.
