I purchased 2 from Matalan. I gave one away as part of a present on the other site. I can't get the same ones now as Matalan are no longer.

If it stops again, I will take it apart and give it a good clean out.

Hey @The Aspie Toker mate, one of my clip on fans (Monkey Jardin or some shit) stopped working and I just ignored it as I had spares but eventually took it apart, found nothing wrong and after reassemble it works fine! I vote Poor quality control mate - The RAM fans as seen in various grow diaries are the way forwards - for me at least.

I went to check on the plants a little earlier and noticed that the clip on fan had stopped working.
I checked it with another socket (not via variac), still dead.
Swapped the fuse over for a new one. Still dead.

I was browsing as to how to fix it when all of a sudden the fan started. I then swapped it back to it's original socket (via variac) and has continued to work.

It may need a clean as it's over 6 years old. Can these fans catch fire at all?
Thank you.
I just changed my oscillating fan out last grow from one id had a good few years it also stopped working if i ever unplugged it so my fix was to remove front cover and plug it back in and i`d get it back started like they did those old biplanes used in WW1 that Red Baron flew, basically i was spinning prop to get it fired up  , i ran it a few grows that way but i was always a bit para about it in back of my mind so i bit bullet and bought a new one beginning of last grow. 8-)

It wouldn't be the first time. I'm not allowed a chip pan due to the amount of times it's nearly caught fire.

The RAM clip on fans do die pretty quick tho. The last one I took a part and spun it up, only died a few weeks into the next grow. But the ECO Fan that some of the lads recommended me on here is a decent unit...no idea how long it will last but it seems like its built well.

. But the ECO Fan
That is the one I meant when I quoted RAM. The larger square Eco fan.

Any electric devide with intermittent faults usually comes down to wiring. Maybe re wire the plug?

I would just get rid and buy a new one. Better to be safe than sorry.
