Use a lux meter. It takes the guess work out.
The most accurate way of doing it is with a PAR meter but they cost mega bucks. A lux meter is a cheap way of checking your light intensity.
You can use an app or buy a meter for about £25.
The numbers to aim for are:

Seedlings 5000 to 7000 lux

Veg 15000 to 50000 lux

Flower 45 to 65000 lux.

The max is 75000 anymore than that is too much for most plants.Image

I didn't know lux meters were that cheap now! Nice one. I use a laseer for temp finding and leaf surace temp sometimes.

You also answered a Q of mine too. About light intensity for varying levels of plant growth.

Nice one @Treetrunk :thanks:

I use a luxmeter on my phone. MAX I can get is 90000 with any plants tbh and you risk bleaching.
LED's seem to go off PAR tho, an expensive meter but for general growers just use a mobile phone app :)
The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.
