I don't think light spread would make a difference. No matter how many lights there's always edges that get less ;)
I hated renting due to that fear of a knock at anytime :( I remember transporting my plants and wilmas in a van with many hoover boxes for plants a few times

I would imagine with the right strain and conditions a kilo from a 1000w DE would be achievable. I had single ended 1000w in 1.5 x 1.5 tent and grew in soil at the time and remember pulling 30oz from 6 plants. My reflector i used was a huge air cooled unit and i feel that gave me great light coverage over 1.5m square tent.
