Re: How do you evaluate your bud?

Most strains are strong and they will get you stoned, but I usually prefer the ones that have a nice taste. If the pheno doesn't have a good flavour then it needs to have a good strong effect or I won't want to smoke it (make concentrates). If it tastes nice but is a weak high (rare) I will smoke it on a morning or when I have important shit to do 8-)
One thing I find with some modern strains is that there is a low ceiling and short duration, even tho the effect may be strong. If you have strains like this then a variety is important, so you can have a little bit of each and not get bored of them. I find sativas such as haze or thai tend to have the high ceiling and also seem to improve potency with age, these are great for the all day smoke! Then on the evening move on to the heavy couch lock types.
When I'm doing a smoke report I usually mention the terps, frost production, the potency and the density/bud quality/appearence, but also sometimes talk about the growth/size/yield of the plant. But I will also talk about the effect more if it's something I consider unique. One thing I hardly ever discuss is the onset :idn: but kind/smoothness is also important for me. Cheers  :pass:

It's all about that balance between flavor and the right kind of high. Sometimes a smooth, long-lasting effect is what really makes the experience, so mixing different strains definitely makes sense.

I like that it cuts through the usual stuff like looks and smell and gets right to how it feels. I’d be interested in a review that also talks about flavor and overall vibe, maybe with a simple rating to sum up the experience.
