Re: Keeping a reservoir warm?
How about using the ducting from the extractor fan?
Dip into the tank. The heat from the fans will go down the ducting and into the tanks.

Re: Keeping a reservoir warm?
Insulating the reservoir or wrapping it in bubble wrap will either keep the temp already cold or warm. So when I fill up my tank with water from the tap it will be ice cold. 24 hrs it will still be ice cold :D
Good thinking Aspie but insulated ducting won't produce much heat to warm up the water. Also it will take too much space in the tank + create a bend into the ducting and restrict the airflow

Re: Keeping a reservoir warm?
I guess you all 3 are right. It will take less energy to warm it up once and keep it warm. Problem is I've got pumps and all sorts coming out of the res would be impossible to make an insulated lid.

But once warm, it will keep its warmth.Bulls wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 9:16 amInsulating the reservoir or wrapping it in bubble wrap will either keep the temp already cold or warm. So when I fill up my tank with water from the tap it will be ice cold. 24 hrs it will still be ice cold :D

Re: Keeping a reservoir warm?
after all the whinging I decided to check how long it takes for my current aquarium heater to warm up the reservoir. 45 minutes from 13 degrees to 19 degrees. Job done. I guess I will set it on timer now 45 minutes prior feed time :)

Re: Keeping a reservoir warm?
Might be worth checking over 24 hours the cost of leaving it on. Sometimes cheaper to leave on all day than start from scratch.

Re: Keeping a reservoir warm?
Hello Viz. Yeah problem is them bloody suction feed get loosee too often. I attach the aquarium filter sidewas, very low so it can keep the last batch of feed warm but keep getting loose. I can put some slates underneath actually that's good shout. and have it attached straight on the bottom of the tank to them.

Re: Keeping a reservoir warm?
I am always up there when reservoir is getting emptied buddy. By Low I mean the last 25L of the feed. I start refilling the reservoir immediately after that with fresh water to sit for 24 hrs before next day feeding :)
