Light change before harvest
I've watched Rasta Jeff (Irie Genetics) on The Grow From Your Heart podcast for a while. He seems like a no BS guy. He's recommending switching back to 18/6 for 7-10 days before harvest. He says it pushes the plant into a growth spurt. I'm inclined be leery of "bro-science" but want to see what the GR420 brain trust thinks. Peace, Toad

Re: Light change before harvest
It’s always an interesting topic when it comes to manipulating nature. I still know people that go completely dark 3-5 days before harvesting. I have no comment as I have not increased light before a harvest but I am interested in everyone’s opinions. I don’t see how much it could help if any, but I also am not a scientist haha. Thanks for the fun discussion topic buddy, hope all is well your way

Re: Light change before harvest
I'm not gonna flat out say no, but I can't think of anything I know about the plant that would make that likely.
Anyone that has time for drama is not gardening enough.

Re: Light change before harvest
My thoughts are all with the terps and flavonoids. raising light time could potentially raise temps and or degrade compounds sensitive to light during the period in trying to retain as much as possible
I do like the logic of a growth spurt tho and happily await others input to the value of this practice

I think there are so many things yet to learn about this plant. Defo would be interested to watch this and see what if any change it causes.

Re: Light change before harvest
For me putting your lights back to 18/6 for last 7-10day is a no no as it would probably actually ruin your finish the 18/6 would do nothing but make the plant stop what it's doing and start turning its energy into veg, as in the last 2 weeks cannabis start filling out alot and if the plant isn't producing the flowering hormones the growth of buds will end up stunted and the 18/6 will just promote the growing of leaves and stems. So you may end up with 3 leaf leaves again. If you want more stretch turn your temp up in first 3 weeks of flower. Plus what @GMO said.

Here`s a good few reads and a video with a little more proper science to it and not bloody bro science. Crop steering is where its at, tis summink I've been reading up on more on more just lately

My take on it is theirs no followed schedule writ in stone, but certain times during grow its for sure more beneficial manipulating plant into a generative or vegetative cycle and towards end of flowering your wanting plant in a generative state producing flowering type hormonal response to fatten up those buds big style.
It was a thread by @ncrypta.core got me right into reading more on this subject, but yes im with what he's saying above here. Here`s a link to his thread viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15404&p=339195#p339195 cheers mate.
