I thought id get a discussion going on legalisation in he UK. I personally believe legalisation in some form is not far away but imo its not going to be the way we want it and im not sure if i do indeed want it given my thinking on what it may mean. Yes i would love to have it legal so we could grow at home and enjoy our harvest without worrying about getting in trouble for doing so.
My worry is i cannot see any of the political parties that have any real hope of being in power here allowing home growing or recreational use of cannabis in the UK. I can however see cannabis being used as a tax/money earner, especially given the state of the countries finances because of the pandemic. My main fear with legalisation in this way is that atm us UK hobby growers have it pretty easy. I know north of the wall things are a bit stricter but everywhere else laws are pretty lax or they are choosing not to enforce them. My opinion on the reasons for this are policing cannabis or at least personal growers/smokers is not worth the cost of doing so. The cost with all steps from planning, intelligence, the raid or arrest followed by the man hours in paperwork, court if necessary and all the rest is huge and we get a caution or a very small fine if its a first conviction. Its simply not viable to put any real effort or time into looking for growers like us anymore. If legalisation is brought in for the reasons i believe it will be, taxes and money then this changes the game for growers like us. We will go from not being worth the time and costs to being someone they will think is actively producing a product they heavily tax and make money off. We wont be hobby growers to them, we will all be cash croppers and tax avoiders. I can see penalties being much stricter for growing, I think the best we will ever have it it right now.
Whats everyones thoughts on legalisation? and what it will look like? how it will effect us?
Members outside of the UK how has legalisation effected you?

I can totally see that happening to be honest, my biggest worry with the way things are is that all my gear will be seized and that I will have to start from scratch, bringing big business in will mean that there is a strong possibility that their interests will be put above medical and recreational users and growers.
Taxing plants you grow for your own use would be a dangerous precisident though.....tomato tax anyone?

I think legal or illegal if anyone round here except my closest friends knew i grew weed id be getting robbed by thieving little ball-sacks with bats n machetes, thieving little coonts they are i tell ya and tis my biggest worry about growing if I can call it a worry. That aside I don't give a rats fuck either way on a personal level legal or illegal.
We`ve been saying its not far away for over ten years and were no further on with debates on legalizing it in parliament, not even by one inch. Maybe cbd is the way forward to showing peeps benefits of weed type concoctions n meds, fuck knows in all honesty, but as for weed becoming legal here in UK I don`t think I'll ever see that although I can see it becoming decriminalized again in not too distant future.

This is the issue. If they did allow us to grow at home but declare it i cant see many putting a name on a list, I certainly wouldn't. Making us still illegal growers. I cant see that even happening though. I think big pharmacy will be given licences to grow and sell to medical outlets. We wint be allowed to grow our own even if it is medical. Then when we get caught we will be robbing tax from the stuff big pharma are producing and get much stiffer treatment.fibrosux wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 5:27 pmI can totally see that happening to be honest, my biggest worry with the way things are is that all my gear will be seized and that I will have to start from scratch, bringing big business in will mean that there is a strong possibility that their interests will be put above medical and recreational users and growers.

Spot on there mate. I worry far more about getting robbed than old bill. There will always be a black market and therefore value is robbing crops.2-Scoops wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 8:06 pmI think legal or illegal if anyone round here except my closest friends knew i grew weed id be getting robbed by thieving little ball-sacks with bats n machetes, thieving little coonts they are i tell ya and tis my biggest worry about growing if I can call it a worry. I dont see 90% of griwers declaring they grow even if its a legal option to so with say 4 plants. Fook putting my name in a list.
Apart from 100% recreational and allowing us to just grow plants without declaration or anything like the only outcome of legalisation is us hobby growers getting fooked over.
I do agree with you on the decriminalisation of small amounts. It ties in with what I said above. They have 2 options atm. Decriminalisation as they cannot afford to police it anyway or make fines and punishment eirth the cost if nicking us. The latter they cant do as things are. But taxes and government making money from a medical situation will mean they can.
