Great minds think alike :) I got a beer fridge too. No smart tech to ruin ya seed stash and runs pretty consistent and has been made to run for years on. I also made sure mine had a compressor as I've heard bad things about the evaporative cooling models.

If I had the bucks and they weren't so bad on power I'd refurb a old 70's pepsi machine for my seeds and beers. It would look cool as fuck next to the pinball machines.seymore_budz wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 9:28 amGreat minds think alike :) I got a beer fridge too. PLease ignore the mess...
That's been running for 2 years now and that is all the ice that accumulated in it. I may need to scrape it.

I think you're looking into things at a far too finer detail than what it needs to be (just a thought) and everyones situation especially with weather around the globe being so different, will make an individuals situation different to someone in another country.seymore_budz wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 9:26 am* Keeping seed in the fridge can be more detrimental due to temperature fluctuations when opening the door.
I keep my weed in the fridge. Last time I kept it around the house it got mould and then some bud rot. If those fluctuations opening and closing the door were causing my weed to go bad, I could understand.
I used to keep my seeds in the fridge, but that space made way for my weed Which I thought wasmore important at the time. I intend to have a 50/50 fridge freezer to keep my trim, weed, seeds and everything in. If it's good enough to keep food in

So I did consider that but it would seem that many have had issues with these types of temperature fluctuations. The difference between food and seed is a seed is living. Without going into detail, a seed is loaded with food to keep the embryo alive and other goodies to ensure a healthy start. The more fluctuations reduce the hormone content and causes the seed to burn up it's reserves quickly.
As this is going to be long-term storage, I wanted to ensure I get the best chance of things germinating after 5+ years but my goal is to keep them for decades if possible.

Yeah I get that. It's more difficult to weigh up than origionally thought. I think when I get my own fridge freezer area I will just keep them well sealed in a tub.seymore_budz wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 10:37 amAs this is going to be long-term storage, I wanted to ensure I get the best chance of things germinating after 5+ years but my goal is to keep them for decades if possible.
