Minty - UVB (Desert or Tropical) ? - anyone using these or have opinions?
Been interested in these and I know I already have too much shit I don't understand but my brain needs better weed to slow it down and I still aint grown shit so until then, I was just looking into science and shit and apparently these make better resin? - especially the Desert spectrum. Anyone using these UVB lamps in your tents?
They seem to come in two variaties 10/Desert or 5/Tropical with 'apparently' 10 being the one you want for growing weed
Hence the the topic? Hopefully someone can talk me outta spending more money or explain how I can make these work for the greater good - but you have to have to be quick - I get paid again next month and you all know me by now

I’d suggest just getting your environment dialed in, finding a growing method/medium you prefer, and then learn how to maximize your space with what you have already. Once you’re feeling comfortable and have some successful grows under your belt then you can start messing around with things that make small differences at the most. Seems like you have a nice race car right now, but you don’t know how to drive it safely and instead of just focusing on learning how to drive it you’re focusing on boosting it from 850 hp to 860 hp. Even someone who really knows how to race will barely notice the difference, but you certainly won’t notice if you can barely even drive it and the added power will just make it slightly more dangerous for you.

This is the best analogy I've heard for growing, lol. I couldn't agree moreTTL11 wrote:I’d suggest just getting your environment dialed in, finding a growing method/medium you prefer, and then learn how to maximize your space with what you have already. Totally agree, now rule me out of the equation and answer the same question
i.e. different context as it is still a valid question.

I am trying to address this mate -just while looking you come across some more info and have more questions.
It really doesn't help that search terms less than 4 characters are disallowed which makes searching on my kinda words (which are generally less than 4 characters - think USB, UVA, PPM, CPU, I2C, ETC) a pain in the arse to see if the subject has been covered before.

As far as i know yes adding uv will help a bit if growing with something that doesnt produce it already such as led. But I'd say wait because I have a feeling that uv diodes wont be too far away, let someone else do the leg work and if its good use it, ditto any new strains. The uv will slightly stress the plant causing it to protect itself by increasing resin production, some people seem to use them to help finish the plant when using leds. I've never bothered with it but i have thought about it. Minty mate, you are me 6 months ago we are very similiar in the way we look at and approach things. Remeber KISS and keep going back to it

UV slows growth an increases terps
using it full cycle reduces yield cos the plants spend time build resistance to UV. if you going to use it without detriment you just wanna have in introduced as burst during your flowering lights on cycle
prolonged exposure plants switch focus to defense rather than production

it wil give you skin cancer in the blink of an eye, so if you do decide to get one, dont ever go in your tent while its on...
thats the safety information over- it also wont make much of a gnats cock of difference to your buds imho
