Good morning GrowRoom420.com
If you don’t feel like spending your money on a grow tent or grow box, you can build your own space bucket at home. In fact, space buckets are ideal for small-scale home growers. They’re typically made with a bucket, some tape, fans, lights and wiring. However, there are several different ways to go about it. While there are guides on how to make them on the web, the accompanying photos tend to be lackluster.
Morrigans Build
One of the most high-tech space bucket designs I could find was made by Reddit user /u/Morrigan_Disapproves. The bucket is made of two Ropak brand 5-gallon buckets for their thickness. The lights are three 100w warm white LEDs running at 30W each. There are thermal switches and heat sinks on the back.
The Morrigan’s build is one of the only space buckets I’ve seen with a junction box designed to hide the electronic components. There aren’t wires all around the bucket. The Morrigan’s Build is one of the most organized space bucket designs out there.
Space Tote V3
The Space Tote V3 by spacetotebuilder is one of the stealthiest space bucket designs I’ve come across. In fact, no one will look twice at it in a garage. Especially if you have it surrounded by other storage equipment.
Two plants can fit in it and you can lift it from the centre to water plants. For lights, a 300w UFO LED makes a great fit. The fans on the side blend in with the colour of the storage unit.
Napalm
The Napalm space bucket was designed by CaptainNapalm67. His goal was to cut down the amount spacers needed to keep a 180W UFO bulb at a safe distance to avoid bleaching.
There is 7020 LED side lighting that is powered by a 12V 10A converter. A 4″ exhaust fan is tied to the end of a 4″ dryer duct.
Sugar Space Shuttle
SugarBallz brought us the sugar space shuttle which uses non-standard trash cans. It’s nearly invisible if you have the lid closed and keep it in a dark place. As long as the back of it isn’t visible, it looks no different from any other similarly designed trash can on the outside.
There are also PC fans wired into a 12v transformer which connects to a strip light and the ventilation. The lid opens like a clam from the top, making it easy to water. It’s one of the most stealthy designs on our list.
Dolphin’s Tote
Two 25 by 15 storage totes close together like a clamshell to make the Dolphin’s Tote. It looks like ordinary storage, similar to the Space Tote V3 but there are fans on top. With a room full of other storage containers, this bad boy will blend right in.
The lighting is a 43w LED, 138w CFL and a 5m LED strip. There are also four fans in total. The intake is at the bottom while exhaust fans are above the lights on top.
Mearbert’s Brute
The Mearbert Brute is one of the most innovative space bucket designs. Furthermore, you can make one with household items. In fact, you can find most of the materials in local shops. The growing chamber is a round plastic trash can.
From the top down there is an exhaust bucket with a fan and activated carbon between carbon filters. In the bucket, there is a 300w UFO and 20 meters worth of 5630SMD LEDs.
The bucket uses a smart pot and a drain pan to support healthy root growth. He built-in a drip system with aquarium tubing.
You can learn how to make your own space bucket or you can try and copy one of the space bucket designs I listed. The best space bucket for you depends on the materials you have lying around at home and the amount of space you have.
You can purchase most of the materials to make one of the space buckets on our list without breaking the bank.
Thanks for looking guys!
