Re: My Loft Build.
Would it be a good idea to have an insulative barrier against the brick? I'd imagine it stores and radiates heat in summer and cold in winter. Maybe some old blankets stapled to the rafters? Never lived in a brick house so unsure how much of an issue it would be.
Anyone that has time for drama is not gardening enough.

Re: My Loft Build.
I'm going to line the walls with 100mm earthwool then stud worktopped with a PIR type insulation like celotex. As for the floor itself I'm going to lay 12mm foam underlay over the new floor before laying the floorboards. Mainly for vibration/sound dampening but it's also a solid layer to stop nasties that may make it into the cavities and/or insulation.sageridder wrote: ↑Mon May 31, 2021 10:30 pmWould it be a good idea to have an insulative barrier against the brick? I do all me own plumbing. I know push fit works and is nice and quick but I'm not a fan of it purely because I'm old fasioned. Make sure to use an isolator from the point you tap into so that you can turn the 'loft' water off to work on it if you need to without having to shut off water to the whole house. And run hot and cold up

Insulation going in. 100mm earthwool between ratlfters, YBS super quilt over that. This will then be topped with 50mm celotex.
